		<description>Yes I agree with this, Stevie. New knowledge is better than a gap... but maybe the bridge is new knowledge too... does it have to be &#039;to boldly go&#039; or can it to &#039;to boldly make sense of&#039;...?</description>

I  see the claim to new knowledge as building on the edge of existing knowledge - breaking into a new area - &#039;boldly go&#039; - whereas &#039;gap&#039; makes me think of bridging the gap between existing knowledges.  Some parallels with induction and deduction possibly ...</description>
